Day 8: "Just Do It"

Today was the best day of the festival so far. The train was late, as per usual. I had run to the station in a panic only to be left waiting. I was dragged to a showing of Asako I & II, which I knew nothing about. Asako turned out to be my favorite film of the festival so far and I loved every single part of it. It was a formulaic melodrama, but it was a modern day Japanese film. Then I saw Adam Driver get into a car and he was not as tall as I had suspected.

After this film, I went with some other people to find a book store. However, we never found one and instead climbed to the top of the Cannes sign. It looked like it was incredibly far away, but it was actually only about 10 minutes. At one point a bird flew at me and I almost pushed Maryanna off of the cliff.

After this we all went to the Indian Pavilion to meet Rima Das. She was so nice and pure. I loved Village Rockstars so much and she conveyed the same positive energy. I spoke to her after her talk when she pulled me in next to her for the photo and I saw her a couple of more times that day. Her talk was the most inspiring thing of the entire festival and I am so grateful to have meet her!

Then we went to La Piazza because everyone made jokes about the restaurant. Then we went to watch people get on the red carpet and it was a strange sight. John Travolta in person is actually really scary, just as I had suspected. Woody Harrelson was so kind and confused? He seemed to be really high, but he spoke to everyone and also had a great energy. Jennifer Connelly was also at the Star Wars premiere and she was so small!

Then I went to watch Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman which was unsurprisingly great!

Then the AmPav had a Queer Party and it was much more intense and party-like than I had suspected.

Overall, this was the most packed day so far.
